Tokyo and Robot Restaurant
In the morning I did a small amount of shopping in Akihabara
I checked out a few Halloween shops
This shop is stacked with busty girl PVC figurines.
These Monster Hunter figures seemed to be popular.
I met up with a pen pal at a restaurant at Akihabara Station. Edameme beans.
Chicken yakitori of some flavor.
Salt and pepper chicken wings
Chicken yakitori of some other flavor. Yeah, I had 3 chicken dishes. I don’t care.
Robot Restaurant
The Robot Restaurant is a bar and cafe in Shinjuku and a hugely popular tourist destination. It is for a reason: there’s nothing else like it.
The show floor is a small arena, with parallel seating on each side, and surrounded by massive LED screens. The performers are constantly entering and existing, crossing the middle and coming within inches of the crowd–no seat is terrible. It was a non-stop mind blowing musical and prop show that made zero sense, but was rocking from start to finish. Large mechanical floats, leggy girls, flashing colorful lights, smoke effects, loud pumping music, and robots, robots robots!
Photography is not only allowed, it’s encouraged. Light is low and everything’s moving fast, so it’s not exactly easy to photograph.
The hallways of the place were brilliant reflective art and LED screens.
