Streets of Chongqing
Good morning, Chongqing!
The view from the hotel: A little smoggy out.

Turns out the hotel is in a pretty neat commerce district. A lot of shoppers….

…. and a lot of food.

About 100 people were lined up to get these spicy noodles. Not bad!

Spicy lamb on a stick.

Very oily spicy chicken.

Wandered into a large, but sparsely trafficked shopping mall.

I always enjoy checking out the arcades.

A Pepsi game where you can win a warm can of Coke.

There was a Toys ‘r Us in the Mall. It was small and the majority of items were either unlocalized American products, Japanese toys (robots and anime) and just a few native toys.

Fisher Price does a pretty good job with localization.

Popular Japanese toy line.

Given the amount of construction happening in China, these trucks must be extremely popular toys – there was a whole aisle in the store dedicated to them.

Japanese collectable toys

These kiosks are all over – you can upload your selfie through some phone app and buy a print, which comes out here.
Underground Food Court
Heavy foot traffic lead to a nearby basement plaza which was packed with local cuisine – and in Chongqing, it’s hard to escape hot-pot-inspired meat-on-sticks.

Didn’t know what this was….Looks amazing though.

Turns out it was spicy fatty pig feet – Ewww.

Hot Pot to go? You select your sticks, they cook it and throw it in a cup.

I’m always up for some noodles and chilies. So good!

Then to wander the streets near the Yangzte.

I believe this is a night club.
