Chongqing CiQiKou

Ci Qi Kou The Porcelain Village
Situated on a tributary to the Jialing River west of Chongqing, this historic neighborhood has become, like many ‘old towns’ in China, packed with shops and restaurants and is packed with shoppers and sightseers day and night. Almost a square mile in size, the area is filled with buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties (roughly 136os-1910). During this time, the neighborhood was a prominent porcelain production center. I had no idea of the scale and historical importance at the time- just kind of picked this place out as a time-killer prior to the flight back to Chengdu.
