Back to Chengdu
I like to splurge and get a decent, relaxing hotel for the end of each stretch of travel. This hotel was booked based on US hotel pricing and I guess that goes a long way in China. Here’s an idea of what you get for $200/night (at least in Yangshuo in 2010).
The place was a short drive outside of Yanshuo and looked fairly new. River on one side, mountains on the other.
My room had a bed on the porch.
A small village is down the street and across a bridge. We head there to snap some photos.
Back to West Street.
To kill time, we head back into the city.
What’s this vendor selling? Looks popular.
Minnows for sale!
I’m ready to head back.
Lunch: Double-cooked pork and lemon chicken (western style).
KFC
KFC is pretty popular in China. Here’s a peak at the menu.
Back in Chengdu
And still some daylight to kill.
We go to see this huge tech mall, where Jing will open up a Thinkpad store later in the month. I’m impressed. There’s everything. I buy some media players, which by now are pretty obsolete tech.
We meet up with Yi, another penpal of mine. We dine at Pete’s Text Mex, which is not bad at all.
A bit of everything.
To end the night we go to Tianfu Square, which is in the city center and surrounded by museums and such.
